Israeli PM Netanyahu surprises PM Modi by wearing Indian clothes before dinner

PM Modi is on a visit to Israel, where he addressed a special plenary session of the Knesset (Israeli Parliament). With this, PM Modi became the first Indian Prime Minister to address the Israeli Parliament

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wore traditional Indian clothing before dinner with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday (February 25) . He shared a video of himself on the social media platform X, in which Benjamin Netanyahu can be seen wearing a mix of Indian and Western clothing. 

Benjamin Netanyahu wore a light gray sleeveless jacket over a white full-sleeved shirt, reminiscent of a traditional Indian jacket. He paired it with dark formal pants and black formal shoes. He posted in Hindi on Instagram, writing, "Before our joint dinner, I surprised my friend Prime Minister Modi by wearing traditional Indian attire."
Modi becomes the first PM to address the Knesset

PM Modi addressed a special plenary session of the Knesset (Israeli Parliament) in Jerusalem. With this, PM Modi has become the first Indian Prime Minister to address the Israeli Parliament. Upon arrival at the Knesset, Speaker Amir Ohana welcomed the Prime Minister and presented him with a ceremonial welcome. PM Modi began his address by thanking the Speaker for the special honour. He expressed his gratitude for being awarded the 'Speaker of the Knesset' medal and dedicated the medal to the enduring friendship and shared democratic traditions of the two countries.

PM Modi spoke extensively about the ancient civilizational ties between India and Israel, as well as a strong modern partnership based on technology, innovation, defense, security, and strategic convergence. He noted that cooperation in areas such as agriculture, rural development, water management, sustainability, and enterprise has elevated the ties between the two countries to new heights.

Offering full support to Israel,

PM Modi reiterated both countries' unwavering zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and expressed his deepest condolences for the October 7 terrorist attack in Israel. He stated unequivocally that such brutality and barbarity cannot be justified in any form. He offered India's full support to all efforts to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region.
